Veterans Services
Veterans seeking assistance with applying for military educational benefits can visit the Office of Student Accounts, located on the first floor of the Carlton Center. This includes veterans, active-duty service members, reserve members, and dependents of disabled or deceased veterans. All eligible individuals should contact the Office of Student Accounts before enrolling to ensure that proper administrative procedures are followed.
Service members interested in utilizing Tuition Assistance (TA) or other educational benefits should first consult with their Educational Services Officer (ESO) or counselor within their branch of the military before enrolling. ABAC follows ethical recruitment practices, refraining from high-pressure tactics like multiple unsolicited contacts or same-day recruitment and registration.
Students wishing to use Veterans Affairs (VA) Educational Benefits at ABAC must submit a certificate of eligibility or Statement of Benefits from the VA’s eBenefits website, or a VAF 28-1905 form for Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (Chapter 31). Additional information, such as the veteran's VA file number, may also be required to certify enrollment.
Students utilizing Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (Chapter 31), Post-9/11 GI Bill® (Chapter 33) or Tuition Assistance (TA) must pay the difference between their predetermined VA or TA tuition benefits and their ABAC student account balance by the fee payment deadline each semester. No penalties (such as late fees or restricted access to classes and facilities) will be imposed if the delayed VA or TA disbursement affects a student’s ability to meet financial obligations. Students may attend courses while waiting for VA or TA payments, as long as they submit a certificate of eligibility or other relevant documentation. The grace period ends either when VA payment is made to the institution or 90 days after the institution certifies tuition and fees.
Students using Montgomery GI Bill®-Active Duty (MGIB - Chapter 30), Veterans’ Education Assistance Program (VEAP - Chapter 32), Dependents’ Educational Assistance (DEA - Chapter 35), or Montgomery GI Bill®-Selected Reserve (MGIB-SR - Chapter 1606) are responsible for paying any remaining balance by the fee payment deadline. These benefits are not sent directly to the institution.
Veterans may also present a copy of their DD-214 form to the Office of Student Accounts for access to additional benefits offered by the institution.
