Human Dimensions of NR & Envir

In this course, students will engage in the social scientific study of natural resource and environmental issues. The course will demonstrate that environmental and natural resource problems often lie at the intersection of biophysical processes and social, political, economic, cultural, and psychological systems. Students will learn how to apply theories and methods found in environmental and natural resource sociology to better engage in understanding the multiple dimensions of the causes and potential solutions to environmental and natural resource problems. Each student will have the opportunity to develop their ability to think, speak, and write critically about such issues and topics from a variety of social scientific approaches and apply those abilities to the study of society and its biophysical environment.Pre-requisite(s): Minimum of 60 credit hours completed.
